Scream was made in 1996 so it uses the more up to date font. It is bold and white, it stands out and immediatly screams horror to the audience. It contrasts really well with the black background and you can tell the grenre because all recent horror films have this font type. By having a bold white font you are not cliching the old films by copying a red font. However now so many horror films are choosing a white bold font, soon it will become a cliche for all horror films.

Poster of Psycho : In the film Psycho they have used a bold red font to contrast with the black background. This shows that it is a horror because the red indicates blood and the black indicates death. Psycho was made in 1960 and at that point in time the red colour font was a brilliant effect in the title sequence however over the years the red font has become very cliched in horror films and so more horror films now use a bold font and it is generally white.
