Evaluation activity - How does your media product represent particular social groups?

This post is about our character Mark and similarities / differences with other media representations of teenagers.



Mark vs Scream's Stu

Similarities:
. They are both one of the main characters
. Lost in the 90s ( The way he acts and dresses etc)
. Always cracking jokes and is up for a laugh
. Has a girlfriend in the film that he is close to
. Very sure of himself and knows what he is good at ( Sonny's line ...'Get in' )

Differences:
. Stu turned out to be the killer
. Mark is a good guy who dies.





Mark vs High School Musical's Troy

Similarities:
. One of the main guy characters
. The 'cool' kid

Differences:
. Mark dresses more how the average teen would
. Troy is more 'Barbie doll Ken' good looks
. Mark shows you don't have to be the sporty type to be cool (dismisses the 'jock' stereotype)
