- Lonely woman waiting for Mr Right
- A couple that look so good together
- Break up terrible time for the woman
- Mr Right we want them to get together and by the end they usually do
- Mr Wrong who she thinks is the one but we know that he is completly wrong
- Parents that try to persuade the woman to keep looking they also create humour 
- A best friend to help the lonely one through it e.g - sometimes the friend is a hopless romantic or over protective
